Last year, I made a New Year’s resolution. To draw more and open an Etsy store. It’s taken a lot of work but I’m very proud to say I stuck to this goal and made it happen. As I start 2012, I’m proud to say I’ve made 63 sales in just over 3 months to countries all over the world. I just want to thank everyone who has supported me in this and to everyone purchased an OON print for an awesome kid in their life! THANK YOU.

To start the year off, here is the first in my new series of Alphabet prints! ENJOY!

Found this amazing website that I could waste hours perusing. Feels like you can tell a lot about someone based on their personal letterheads, like rummaging through their medicine cabinet.

Frank Llyod Wright – I can’t imagine how hard this would have been to read!

Andy Warhol – Could have been done yesterday. Amazing.

Paul Rand – of course.

Saul Bass – _______________

Robot Salesmen – I’ve seen this in research before and I always thought it was a current design. WishI knew what they sold.

Marilyn Monroe – Beautiful.

Marlene Dietrich – Love this so much. Especially in comparison to Monroe’s.

Star Wars 1976 – A year before the first movie premiered. Interesting logo.

Ray Charles – Hard to read…totally worth it.

Charles Manson – REALLY??

Teamed up with La Carnita last night for the latest Toronto Underground Market at the Brickworks. Such a great event. All my old crew from OneMethod was there making tacos, the boys from Westside were sporting some pretty awesome shirts and my husband was fryin’ up some amazing fish tacos below a giant hand painted version of his logo aka. Meatface. The line up held strong all night until the last 700th taco with a full line of people still waiting. The art prints were gone within an hour. If you weren’t able to make it to this one, get your tickets early next time!

After many late nights and months of planning The Office of Nature is finally up on Etsy! Right now I’ve listed the Pirate Series and Truck series. More to come soon including some type posters and christmas cards that will also be featured on HelloLucky! If you have a second please check out the shop and take a moment to Like the Facebook page if you get a chance.

§1800 · September 5, 2011

After a week off at the cottage and the labour day weekend to finally get my life in order, test prints have been made, merchandise photographed and store policies written! The Shop is set to open at the end of the month and I couldn’t be more excited!

To start, I will be offering my Truck Series of 9×12 prints but HelloLucky! is also gearing up to launch their new site with 4 card designs I did for them so I’m hoping to make those available in the Fall for christmas orders as well. Not to mention my brain is full of ideas for new work I’d like to make like “prints for girls” (whatever that means), recipe cards, and maybe even bags!

It’s an exciting time and I can’t wait to go live. Email me if you’re interested in joining the newsletter! And don’t forget to like my page on Facebook (so many shamless self promos!)

Sorry for all the exclamation points…I’m just really that excited.

§1790 · July 21, 2011

If you live in the Toronto area than you need to start following @la_carnita immediately. I’ll let them tell the story, but basically, you buy an awesome $10 mini poster and get 3 amazing gourmet tacos. Perfect. It happens once a week at my old stomping ground, OneMethod. Last week featured the amazing work of my super talented husband, Matt Webb. He calls him Meatface. ENJOY!

I can’t divulge many details at the moment but I’m currently working on an illustration project in partnership with a great online stationary boutique. You can see a few sneak peeks on my Dribbble page here. Needless, I’m very excited to share the final product but that won’t be for awhile. Keep you posted!

§1765 · March 18, 2011

So I’ve finally decided to hunker down and work on my illustration skillz. I’ve started with this series on Trucks partly to try to impress my very contrary 2 year old and partly to help launch my Etsy store in the coming months. There will be lots more to come including other posters and different lines of cards for sale to start. Watch the process on Dribble!

I came across these photos in a blog post on Etsy while I was researching my store and spent nearly half an hour just looking through them all. They are a series of portraits of people who’ve been arrested from the Sydney Police Archives in the 20s. The blogger makes a great point that the only familiarity we really have with people in the past is through movies or someone’s interpretation of it. We rarely get to see “normal” people showing their vulnerabilities or looking a little disheveled, although no more disheveled than I am when I get to work everyday. These people really do look like they could be your friend or uncle and I woulnd’t look twice if I saw some of their outfits walking down Queen St. They actually really remind me of Sleater Kinney with those haircuts. Really makes want to re-watch the first season of Boardwalk Empire. The woman who is hunched apparently in shame and won’t look at the camera has a certain resemblance. Just an amazing group of photos and insight. Somehow they make me feel a lot more assured about the world.

There’s really too many to post but you can find the original post here.

Hellenic, you’re so adorable. Never realized how synonymous it is with stereo sound….apparently.

§1705 · January 6, 2011

Thanks for coming and checking out the new site and blog. There are new projects up and new content coming soon. Keep in touch…follow me on twitter!

§1494 · January 4, 2011

We got Netflix for christmas and it’s the best thing to happen to TV since HBO. Watched Beer Wars last night which has inspired this post. Designed by Neatly Trimmed Beard (site coming soon). Awesome.

§1491 · December 20, 2010

Whoa. Have you ever really looked at the typography of this ad? It’s amazingly terrible.

§1484 · November 25, 2010

Here’s a quick little poster I did for my brothers sons first birthday. Apparently, his older sister got a little jealous when the postman delivered it…and ripped it all up. Oh well. Another one is on it’s way.

§1476 · November 24, 2010

Chimera lights? Check. Horizontal tripod? Check. Supplies? Check…almost. I’ve been planning to reshoot my work for a long time and things are finally coming together. Unfortunately, between getting a toddler to bed on time and taking a moment for myself every night (very important), looks like I’ll be shooting about a project a night which means the new site should launch in about……a month. Hopefully I won’t want to redo it by the time I’m done.

§1400 · September 16, 2010

Having just finished a promo booklet at work with half a dozen custom info graphics (and will be posting soon), I ffffound these amazing examples done by Gretchen Etc. She documented a suitcase full of what I assume were letters from highschool and went about gathering statical information from them like how many times did they use the word “cool”. Interesting idea and even more interesting take of info graphics. I should be documenting data from my sons potty training for future use.

It’s been a long day…and i can’t remember how the hell I came across this but it’s rad and deserves a little props. Michael Weinstein describes it as “a timeline of all the Wu-Tang Clan group and solo albums, as well as all their hilarious nicknames.” I love the whole bee/hive theme. Just wish it was a bit bigger to be able to read it all. Props none the less.

This might not be the most convenient way to trudge your picnic over to Toronto Island but meeting someone for a lunch during the work week with this urban picnic basket would be pretty amazing. The only thing I love more are the awesome DIY gingham print backgrounds!!! How great are those? The office edition is made out of yellow post-its and lighter lined post-its, the boombox edition is stenciled, and the painting edition is coloured felt pen.

You can buy them at boxsal.com for 35$ which includes a completely compostable eatin’ tool set (extras for 10$).

As someone who is married to an in-house designer for a University, I know how challenging it can be to cut through all the red tape and do something really different. It’s possible and he does it everyday but it’s a never ending battle and gives the term “designed by committee” a whole new meaning. So props to 160/90 from Philly for challenging their client and coming up with this completely appropriate mail-out directed at soon to be high school graduates. It really succeeds at standing out among other mail-outs by avoiding overused, bland stock photography and the standard glossy book format.

As an added bonus, one of good friends and colleagues has just moved to Philly from Calgary to begin work with 160/90 so congrats to Justin and good luck.

How great are these lamps from Guillaume Devigne out of Paris? They come in 3 resolutions translated as 3 different textures; 72 Dpi, 150 Dpi, and 300 Dpi. His website is in French and there isn’t a lot of backstory but I love the sense of humour and intersection of graphic and industrial design.

Apologies for my sudden disappearance. We’ve been doing nothing but spackling and painting Chez Janky (aka. our new house) for the past month and as a result all my internet attention has been focused on interior decoration. Anyway, I thought why not share some of the awesome interiors I’ve found. I wittled these down from 78 to 28 and unfortunately, I’ve been hoarding these for months and do not have the credits for any of them anymore but they were collected mostly from Design*Sponge and ApartmentTherapy .
